The "Barlow" is a classic Sheffield pattern dating back over 200 years and immortalised by Mark Twain In Tom Sawyer (1876). This example is not as basic as its predecessors! It has ramshorn handles with a buttery colour accentutated by the brass linings underneath. Most examples have deep red blood-streaks which add to the attraction of this natural material. The long bolster is made from steel and is stamped with the historic Eye Witness mark which dates back to 1838. The clip point blade has a square tang, letting the blade rest at the half-open position.
